This Privacy Policy explains how our mobile application, AI Character: Chat Companion (the "App"), collects, uses, discloses, and safeguards your information when you use our service. 2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
We collect information through various mechanisms to operate, monetize, and improve the App. This data is categorized as follows:
A. Data Collected Automatically (via Third-Party SDKs)
• Advertising & Device Identifiers: Mobile advertising identifiers (such as Google Advertising ID), IP addresses, operating system version, device make and model, language settings, and general location (inferred from IP address) collected automatically by Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) and Google User Messaging Platform (UMP).
• Usage & Interaction Data: App launch events, ad impressions, ad clicks, screen visits, and feature interactions collected for ad reporting and performance monitoring.
• Diagnostic & Crash Data: App performance metrics, error logs, and stack traces to identify and fix technical bugs.
B. Data Transmitted Through Network / API Calls
• Conversational Prompt Data: When you chat with an AI companion, your text input, selected character identifier, your nickname (if provided), and dominant language preferences are transmitted securely over HTTPS to our backend AI routing endpoints (powered by Supabase Edge Functions) to generate conversational AI responses.
• Ephemeral Processing Note: Chat prompts sent to our server endpoints are processed strictly for the immediate generation of AI responses. We do not use your conversational messages to train public AI models.
C. Data Stored Locally (NOT Transmitted by Us)
• Local Chat History: All chat message bubbles and conversational logs between you and the AI companions are saved locally on your device using SQLite/Room database. We do not upload or mirror your chat history on our cloud servers.
• Local Memory & Preferences: AI character memories (summary details saved by AI companions about your chat context), daily check-in moods, nickname, selected favorite character, quota counts, and language preference locks are stored locally on your device via DataStore and Room database.
D. Data NOT Collected
• We do NOT require user registration or account creation.
• We do NOT collect personally identifiable information such as your real legal name, physical address, email address, phone number, government ID, or precise GPS location.
• We do NOT collect financial, payment, or biometric data.
3. PERMISSIONS USED
The App declares the following permissions in its AndroidManifest.xml:
• android.permission.INTERNET
- Why Needed: Required to connect to external servers over HTTPS to send chat prompts and receive AI responses, load companion avatar images, and fetch advertisements.
- Involves Data Collection: Yes (transmits network requests containing IP address and prompt payload).
• android.permission.POST_NOTIFICATIONS
- Why Needed: Required on Android 13 (API level 33) and above to send local daily reminder notifications (e.g., daily mood check-in reminders scheduled via WorkManager).
- Involves Data Collection: No. Notifications are scheduled and generated entirely locally on your device.
4. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
The App integrates specific third-party Software Development Kits (SDKs) and APIs. Below are the details of these services, their purposes, and links to their privacy policies:
• Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) SDK
- Purpose: Serving banner, interstitial, rewarded, and native advertisements to keep the App free.

5. DATA RETENTION
• Locally Stored Data: All chat logs, character memories, mood check-ins, and user preferences stored locally on your mobile device persist until you manually clear chat history within App settings, clear the App's storage data via Android system settings, or uninstall the Application.
• Third-Party SDK Data: Retention of data collected by Google AdMob and Supabase is governed by their respective independent retention policies.
6. DATA SHARING
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. Data is shared with third parties only in the following limited operational circumstances:
• With Service Providers: Automatically transmitted to Google AdMob for advertisement delivery and analytics, and to Supabase for backend AI prompt processing.

8. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

Our Application is rated Teen (13+) / 12+ and is directed to general audiences. The App is NOT directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. 9. ACCOUNT DELETION
The App operates entirely without user accounts or server-side user profiles. Because we do not maintain accounts on our servers, there is no remote account deletion process required. We implement commercially reasonable technical and organizational administrative security measures to protect your information against unauthorized access, loss, or alteration. All network communication between the App and our backend AI endpoints utilizes HTTPS encryption in transit. However, please remember that no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or App features.
